Maintenance
The purchase or lease of your aquarium is simply the first step. Regular maintenance is essential, not only for aesthetic purposes but also for the health and condition of its inhabitants. You can do this yourself, but many of our customers prefer us to do the work. The tasks we carry out during each maintenance visit usually include:
Aesthetics: to ensure the aquarium remains visually attractive, internal glass faces and décor will be cleaned to remove any marks, debris or algal growth.
Water quality: quality is vital for the health and appearance of fish and invertebrates and will be checked during visits. We will carry out partial water changes with filtered water as required to keep toxins and nutrients within acceptable parameters.
Filtration: filter(s) will be checked during every visit and serviced as appropriate. However, due to the chemical and biological processes within an aquarium, cleaning may not be necessary every time.
Light and heat: These systems will be checked at every visit and serviced as required. Although modern equipment is exceptionally reliable, it is also advisable to check temperature periodically and notify us of any substantial fluctuations.
Feeding: when requested and when possible, we install automatic feeders, which will be checked and filled during our visits. They will feed suitable amounts up to four times per day. Note that they are not suitable for all aquariums or all species, so we will supply daily food portions when required.
